UPDATE - Christmas Fund-raising Event (December 2007)
The Learning Support Department at Northbrook College Worthing, where Ness Bush works, decided to support the Wave Fund as their Christmas charity this year. Instead of buying each other Christmas cards, donations were made instead to the Wave Fund.
Ness also did a table sale at the departmental Christmas lunch, and a total of £150 was raised, for which we thank everyone who contributed and gave their support to our cause.
Thanks guys.....!
Visit to Arada (March 2007)
In March this year Richard and Ness Bush's neighbour, Adam Masters, visited Thailand with his girlfriend, Pen. While they were in Phuket they arranged a visit to one of our sponsored children, Arada, and her family. The visit was organised with the help of Tim Laven, a manager at the Cape Panwa Hotel in Phuket and involved some workers from the Red Cross charity who have been overseeing the distribution of funds to families hit by the Tsunami disaster, and who visit our sponsored children.
Adam took some presents for Arada and spent some time with her and her uncle and grandparents who have cared for her since she lost her parents as a tiny baby. It is lovely to see these photographs of her growing up into a happy, smiling, gorgeous little girl and one who is so evidently loved and cherished by her family.
Thank you so much Adam and Pen for visiting her and giving us this wonderful update on her progress and some beautiful photographs. And thank you to Tim and the Red Cross for all their work and help. For more details of Adam and Pen's visit with more photographs read our latest newsletter (340KB in PDF format).
Tennis Tournament (25th March 2007)
Our local Sports Club, David Lloyd in Worthing, were kind enough to host a tennis tournament, which was run by Head Coach Tony Doolan, together with Stew and James. It was a fun day with tournaments for the children and adults (both under 13s and over 13s) in the morning, and for adults only in the afternoon. From the proceeds of entrance fees for the tournament, a table sale in the club and a silent auction, we raised a total of £700. Thanks to everyone who supported the event, especially to the tennis pros who gave up their days off to come and run the event.
Tennis Tournament (25th March 2007)
Tony Doolan, Head Tennis Coach at the David Lloyd Leisure Centre in Worthing, is running a tennis tournament to raise funds for the Wave Fund - to be held on Sunday 25th March - adults and children in the morning and adult tournament in the afternoon. At least this way we do not have to depend upon good weather, as the last event was a walk over the downs followed by a BBQ in the garden and was completely washed out! We will post an update after the event to tell you how much was raised.
Christmas Market (9th December 2006)
Ness, Bushy and a fantastic group of helpers manned a stall at the Christmas Charity Market at the Worthing Assembly Rooms on Saturday 9th December. With a large selection of items (some still available from our Wave Fund brochure) going at bargain prices they raised a healthy £333 with additional donations bringing the total on the day to £413. A fantastic result! Unfortunately there are no photos to show you as they were all too rushed off their feet to take any!
UPDATE - Wave Fund Walks (22nd October 2006)
Despite the dreadful weather there was a fantastic turnout and much fun was had by all. Money is still coming in, but the current total stands at just over £1000, so well done everyone who took part and supported this event. More info will be available here soon.
Wave Fund Barbecue - August 2006

Thai-themed Auction Evening - January 2005
Our first event to raise money for the Wave Fund was an auction evening with Thai food, beautifully prepared and served by our friend Jutamus. The evening was very well attended and a great success. With the help of auctioneer Paul Campbell from Gorringes in Lewes, who was seconded in at the last minute and did an admirable job, we raised over £3000 for the fund!
Donations
We have had many kind donations from our customers and friends, as well as support through the purchase of items from the Wave Fund brochure.
