School Supplies

Staff and pupils of the school we have been able to support through the Wave Fund. The photograph is of Thailand's Crown Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, whose representative is our good friend and project advisor Mrs Pittraporn Sangkasaba, known as Khun Garn.

Child Sponsorship

Through our friend Khun Garn we have recently taken on the long-term sponsorship of two little girls, Arada & Dusadee. Both girls have lost their parents in the Tsunami and are now being cared for by their grandparents. Arada is two years old and Dusadee has just had her third birthday.

The current cost of sponsorship amounts to £75.00 per child per month, which covers the cost of school books & uniform, as well as their general welfare. Children in Thailand receive free education until they reach teen-age. If they are to continue in their education they must then pay. With the financial hardship arising from the loss of one or both parents, many teenagers who would wish to remain at school will find themselves unable to. For this reason we intend to continue to sponsor Arada and Dusadee throughout their teenage education, enabling them to continue in their studies and improve their chances and opportunities for the future.

Child Sponsorship UPDATE

Following on from our sponsorship of Arada & Dusadee, we have now taken on the sponsorship of two little boys to complete our "family". Their names are Tanagi (aged five) and Ausada (aged just one-and-a-half).

Tanagi lost his mother in the Tsunami and is cared for by his grandmother, as his father has had to find work in another district and can only vist once a week. He is at school already, so the sponsorship will help with his education.

Ausada was only 3 months old when he lost both his parents on Phi Phi island. He is now cared for by his grandmother who is very devoted but is struggling financially to support her little grandson. We hope that our long-term support will make life a little easier for them both and give Ausada a brighter future to look forward to.
